A /facepalm pug moment

A few lines have been edited from this transcript for readability – boss emotes, loot rolls, etc. Nothing that any player said has been left out or altered in any way. This is the first time I spoke in /p during the instance – there was no bad blood between us whatsoever. Names have been changed to protect both the innocent and the guilty.

[P] [Button]: Hey <name>, I notice you’re specced warbringer but have been running into combat instead of charging. You might want to try opening with a charge. ^^
[DG] [WarTank]: dont like switching stances
[P] [Button]: You’re specced warbringer. Means you can charge in any stance.
[DG] [WarTank]: OMFG
[P] [Blanket]: :D
[DG] [WarTank]: fucking*
[G] [Blanket]: Oh dear
[P] [Button]: …My main is a prot warrior.
[P] [Button]: Look at the talent Warbringer.
[DG] [WarTank]: yoiu’re a dumbass
[DG] [WarTank]: shut the fuck up
[P] [Button]: Lolwut
[P] [Button]: Open your spec
[P] [Button]: And look at the talent Warbringer.
[P] [Button]: [Warbringer]

Vote to kick WarTank has passed.

For the record, I hadn’t yet voted when the vote to kick passed.

Morals of the story:

  1. Read your talents as you spec into them. Don’t just adopt a standard spec without looking at what the talents actually do for you. You’re potentially missing some pretty huge stuff.
    • This applies even if you think you’re bad at theorycrafting. You don’t have to personally figure out which talents are good, but do try to find out why they’re good. The difference between a parrot and a person is understanding.
  2. Keep an open mind. If someone tells you something you don’t believe, at least check it out.
    • Keeping an open mind doesn’t mean you have to take their word for it. There are plenty of credible sources on the internet, and sometimes the truth is easily testable yourself.
  3. Seriously, don’t cuss people out on the dungeon finder. That’s just rude.
    • Srsly.
